Celebrate World Pride Month this June in New York City with events happening across NYC from film festivals to the famous parade & more.

Celebrate World Pride 2019

With more than fifty events spread across an entire month, World Pride is set to flood New York City in a sea of sequins, glitter & hairspray for the month of June – and we cannot wait!

Here’s how we suggest you celebrate World Pride with us this June.

World Pride Events New York City

Depending on what weekend you are visiting New York during pride month here are our top picks for events that you won’t want to miss:

Monday June 17 until Wednesday June 19 – Out Cinema

Across three days, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in queer culture and film. Some films also offer exclusive opportunity to attend Q&A events with the filmmakers, a unique opportunity to explore the films in more depth.

Monday June 24 until Tuesday June 25 – Human Rights Conference

If you want to skip the glitter and parties for something a little more serious, the annual human rights conference is a gathering of artists and activists, policymakers and educators. Across two days, this conference is a global dialogue of human rights issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community.

Sunday June 30 – NYC Pride March

There isn’t really words to describe just how incredible it feels to be surrounded by so much love and pride. NYC Pride March is the biggest in the world, and it is one of those things that you’ll need to experience at least once in your life.

As the day winds up, Times Square will hold host to the closing ceremony bringing together a unique mix of musicians and LGBTQ+ influential speakers.

Both the Pride March and closing ceremony are free events.

Discover the LGBTQ+ history of New York

World Pride 2019 is happening alongside the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising – so stopping by the historic Stonewall Inn is a must. In fact, Greenwich Village [where you’ll find the iconic bar] is rich with LGBTQ+ history and art – spending the afternoon here will fill your heart with so much pride for just how far the community has come.

With all that walking and celebrating you’ll need to find somewhere to fill your stomach.

The National , located in Midtown, has a delicious lunch menu [and cocktail list if you want to start the party early]. Don’t be deterred by the name of ‘The UGLY Burger’ – this juicy burger, and special NTL sauce, tastes a whole heap better than the way it looks.

If you were hoping to be around the Greenwhich Village area after learning about the history, and you are searching for a great vegetarian option; Nix will show that vegetarian food doesn’t have to be healthy – it can be a little sinful and delicious.

Discover NYC’s most fierce drag queens

Did you really do pride if you didn’t attend a drag show? New York is home to some of the best drag shows, in the world – you will be spoilt for choice.

It won’t matter what night of the week it is, Lips NYC is home to some of New York’s best drag shows every night of the week. There’s also an opportunity for a sit-down dinner and show, where the queens will not just pull off incredible celebrity impersonations, but also wait your tables.

 Sleep it all off

The Benjamin is just steps away from the world-famous 5th and Madison Avenue if you’re interested in doing some shopping during your weekend getaway. However, it’s also the perfect place to rest your head after a late night and long weekend.

And by perfect we mean; The Benjamin Hotel has a pillow menu, with staff trained to be able to give you the best advice on making the right selection for your night’s sleep.

The Hotel also has on demand 24/7 meditation if you’re finding yourself having trouble winding down from all that dancing, and a selection of perfect bedtime snacks if you forgot to grab a hotdog from the street vendors before jumping in that taxi home.
