Bars & Nightlife

Though perhaps not known for a non-stop party embraced by other neighborhoods, what you will find for nightlife in the area is excellent. Casual sports bars, cozy pubs for beer enthusiasts, elegant rooftop bars with breathtaking skyline views — whatever you’re in the mood for, it won’t be a challenge to find.

Sofia Wine Bar & Café

Here, pair your choice of over 50 bottles of wine from a rotating list with a number of delicious traditional dishes like housemade gnocchi, assorted salumi, and baked eggplant parmigiana.

Lavo
One of the original pioneers of the hybrid restaurant-club scene in New York City, this buzzy bi-level concept offers a DJ-soundtracked nightclub downstairs and an upscale southern Italian restaurant on the ground floor. After consuming the likes of a 16 oz. Kobe meatball, eighteen-inch lobster-scampi pizza, and dessert of Oreo zeppoles, dance the calories off downstairs.

The Campbell
For a sip of bygone New York, visit this sophisticated landmark bar and lounge connected to the Grand Central Terminal. The space has played many roles and passed through many hands throughout its storied history: it started as an office and entertainment hall to railroad baron and American financier John W. Campbell, but also served as a police station before becoming a bar in the late 90s. Despite several revamps, plenty of its original fixtures are still intact, including a stone fireplace and distinctive leaded-glass windows.
